Storks in the RAASM Oasis-Park

Storks in the RAASM Oasis-Park
The stork, with its majestic elegance, snow-white plumage and tapering orange beak, has been part of our imagination since ever, present in fairy and folk tales.

The RAASM Oasis-Park, within its 12 hectares of green areas and ponds, is an ideal habitat for this bird, a great lover of wetlands rich in small animals essential for its carnivorous diet.

Storks are migratory waders, capable of traveling enormous distances to winter in Africa. They remain with us for the first two and a half years of life inside the large aviary in the northeast of the park. After this period, they become sedentary, and continue to nest even after release in the foliage of trees or on trellises installed to accommodate broods.

A recent inspection of the Lipu (Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli, “Italian League for the Protection of Birds”) certified the presence of 11 nests scattered throughout the park, where as many as 13 storks were born this year, about half of the total surveyed in the Veneto region.

Welcome to storks, bearers of prosperity and good luck!
